The first, for luthiers or anyone else who can finish:

I want to refinish my strat in a white glass glitter style finish, which would consist of white base, small rtansparent glitter, and larger silver and a few gold glitter specks. Does anyone know where to by glitters from that i can mix into lacquer??? any help would be ace.

TWO, for amp modders:

I want to mod my marshall DSL 50 head to give me more flexibility, I thort a small mod giving me sepereate treble and mid controls for either channel. or something that can make the distortion a bit smoother and more, well Krank like, I love their Chadwick 50 head, that has a great clean but a more powerful, smoother, more modern distortion than on the DSL 50. again, anyhelp would be ace

Glitter of varying size and shape and colour can be had from pro. modelling places. Only recently back from the US but easy to get there in model shops. Dunno bout UK but would look online.

Some auto paint stores will carry the glitter you're after. House of Kolor in the US has it, though I don't know where you'd find it there. Make sure you have a good respirator if you're shooting that stuff though; it settles into your lungs and does nasty things to you. You could also possibly sprinkle it into a wet finish and put more clear over the top instead of mixing it with your laquer and spraying it. Of course, you'd have to make sure that the surface to be sprinkled was flat.

If you want a Krank, buy a crank. If you want a better sounding Marshall, buy an older Marshall, JCM 900, 800, JMP, plexi, etc.

You might be able to get a JCM 2000 completely redone... new transformer, a few new resistors, etc. to sound good, but without some work, I hate the amps.

I aslo found these people who do glitter flakes for airbrush users http://www.aquaflow.com/products.htm

They deal with airbrush paints and additives, they may not have what you want but probably can point you in the correct direction.

The stuff these guys supply are acrylics but they are highly opaque and should not require thick coats

I cant remember who it was a few weeks ago who wanted the globby guitar finish but they also fo gel mediums and even better gel string medium.

Thats really helped. Dont worrry about my respirator too, I have all the top notch stuff for sprtaying at college. I'll get on it in september time so i'll post some pics, mybe even a little photo diary of how i made the glitter finish if it works well. :)
