Anybody knows these incredible guitars, made by John Elliot in the UK?
He built this '61 Telecaster replica for me:

Looked at his site, the instruments really look the business, so what do you think of your tele (as if I can't guess).

I absolutely love the blueburst bass and the bound teles.

I have wanted a mid 60s telecaster / Esquire (as much like Syd Barretts Esquire as possible) or a nice black tele with bound body for so long.

As you can guess I'm in love with this guitar, it definately has the vibe I thought I never could afford, it's just pure vintage telecaster. To make it shorter here is a link to the review I did for it (if that's of interest):

John Elliot can make a guitar to your exact specifications, and if you go for a specific model, specific vintage year he knows the exact specs to make a vintage correct replica.
+1 on the bound custom teles 8) a sunburst custom T was my second choice (Andy Summers!), but I had to ask him for a strat! I'm waiting for my '62 sunburst, shouldn't be too long, now... :roll:

I truely enjoy hearing people when they get something that totally lives up to (or exceeds) their expectations.

I have a huge desire for someting built in 63 (the year I was born) but I dont' have a bank account that matches that desire :(

A 63 Tele, Strat or Jaguar, Drooooool !

Possibly this chap or Jonathan would be the only way I stand a chance of getting even vaguely close to my desires (well the 1963 guitar one anyway). The leiu I should be getting paid in December and what I could obtain with it (it was a rickenbacker last year)

The T came "stock" with Voodoo TE50s on John's advice, but since I discovered BKP I asked him to install Apaches on the strat

I've been GASing for a long time to install Brown sugars on the Telly, but still can resign myself to touch her :oops:

Great looking guitar- I have known about Bravewood for a while and often nip into the site to see what's occurring. Personally I'd go for a less worn look if it were me but the attention to detail is amazing. It'll be interesting to see what you think of the Strat with Apaches.

Some nice stuff there, i prefer his slightly reliced stuff to some of the over reliced strats he has done. Yours looks great to me.

Hopefully I'll be able to post a review in a few weeks, John has to finish 2 guitars before finishing mine...
I'm already using an Irish tour set on a 62 reissue and have to say they sound amazing, but for the Bravewood I wanted to keep it has vintage as possible, hence the Apaches. I've been waiting for more than a year now and can't wait to hear and play it!

I'am waiting on John at Bravewood Guitars building my ' 62 Fiesta Red Strat not sure at the moment to put in BKP Apaches or BKP Irish Tours - love your Tele Yannroman a Bravewood '52 Tele will probably be my next guitar made by John.

I was going to say maybe you could get something a bit less desirable like a Mustang, but I don't think it was introduced until '64 - the year I was born.

I did briefly own a '64 SG Special, but I never got on with it - it wouldn't stay in tune and for some reason the strings always felt a lot stiffer than they should have. My only "vintage" guitar now is my '65 Melody Maker - not quite as old as me but almost as ugly, and it sounds awesome - unplugged it's about twice as loud and resonant as any other electric I've ever played. All for less than £600.

Back on topic, those Bravewood guitars are fantastic. I could spend hours just looking at the pictures. I've always wanted a relic Strat, and to have the choice of pickups, fret size etc is brilliant. And he even makes hardtails!

They look good and are so cheap compared with the big name custom shop guitars.

A little less wear as Mr 38th says. Less is more!
