best bareknuckle for a gordon smith?
« on: June 12, 2005, 09:15:58 AM »
hi everbody, this is my first post!

i've ordered up a nice thick bodies gordon smith gs1 from soundsgreat music in manchester, but i asked for it without PU as i don't like the stock GS 'buckers (to shrill, not enough output). i've been thinking about either a warpig or a nailbomb - i want a PU with high output, nice fat low end with enough mids and highs to cut through. i play heavy sabbathy sort of stuff, usually with a fuzz pedal into an old marshall non-master head.

i'm leaning towards the nailbomb - any suggestions/ advice? :?:

Hi, welcome to the forum!

I've heard GS loaded with Warpigs and they've sounded awesome, just what you're after.
A Nailbomb would sound good too although not as much saturated gain as the Warpig.

Check the players room in the forum for clips of both being used in anger. PDT_045

:D The ooompff that you can generate with something like this going through the amp that should only be a week or so away by now  to me is going to be so much fun my mind is going crazy , (which it is anyway) as to how i can impliment such a brutal sound and make it kinda funny also. Apart from gigging and recording I have thought of another use for this new gear, a bit of pay back so to speak!  I tell you what I used to do years ago  . I live on a main road that feeds london, which has pubs and resturants (who never comply by the enviromental laws on noise) So I'd put an amp on the window sill of my flat over looking the main road and hit power chords and ear-splitting harmonics when I felt like it because I can   Har Har Har! Those stuck up "£$%ers are going to have a suprise in store next time they have that poxy Elvis impersonator crooning at 2 in the morning! I may Even Film it. Anyone interested? I won't post here though but there will be bareknuckle pups involved      Summer In The City!

Haha, indeed he does!

I remember a few times my neighbours have got an hour or so of Meshuggah riffs when they decide to stumble in drunk at 1am and have no regard for the sleeping neighbours.

BTW, where abouts in North London are you?, I used to live in West London before moving to sunny Dorset.
"What frequency are you getting? Is it noise or sweet, sweet music?"

Tim, would that be the ultimate budget way of getting a solid mahogany/warpig de-tuned riff beast?
