I haven't posted here for a long time mainly due to my computer being down :shock:  as well as some other things, but now my computers up and running i can post again. any way i was just wondering which guitar players you think deserve more recognition.

ALso his partner in crime Henjo Richter.

Both brilliant song writers, and they can shred aswell as do the blusier stuff.

I think black and death metal guitarists deserve more recognition, the guys from Necrophagist are beyond good... as are the guys from Opeth and Ishahn from Emperor.

Theres REAL talent behind alot of those bands, even more so when you realise they are usually one or two man projects at first.

I love Townsend as much as the next guy, but he's very well respected as a player.

Maybe his lead playing doesn't get mentioned enough though.

yeah, agree with Feline, Mark Kendall played some outstanding stuff with Great White, which wasn't noticed because they were a "pop rock" band.  same with Def Leppard, Steve Clark and, I think, Pete Willis ( if that names wrong, sorry ) were fabulous on their first three albums.  and let's face it, Hysteria is the greatest "pop" rock album ever made!!

Adrian Legg was mentioned before, brilliant!  

of course, the most highly rated underrated guitarist is George Harrison

He was a student of Satriani and is featured briefly in the DVD "Satch Tapes" - His star was rising and then grunge hit, he was an unbelievable talent.
