DIY Guide - How to modify your SD-1

Hey guys it has been a while since I've posted! Some of you may know of my DS-1 mod guide, I have now done one for the SD-1 too!

sweet will have a look, in the mood for something like a keeley SD-1 so might have a bash at DIYing it.. colour blindness and all ;)

modding the SD-1 is childsplay - it is only ever a few components away to being a great pedal.

Aggreed! And it is pretty cheap to do as well!

Building pedals is a bit more challenging :D

Kinda hijacking here, but what does the stock SD-1 sound like? I was interested in either the SD-1 or the DS-1, but I think I could use the SD-1 instead of my behringer TO800, if it does the same kinda thing (which is tubescreamer with more gain), but without the compression and muddiness! Looks like its not too complicated to mod either which is always good :)

If you get a DS-1 I'll slap you :p

SD-1's sound alright stock, but the modding opens up the pedal and takes off the harsh treble in most cases.

I'd try one out, chances are it will sound like your Behringer with more gain, treble and generally higher quality. If you don't want to DIY I do mods on SD-1s to my specifications (I don't do keeley mods and Fulldrive ones myself as it is stealing business of others) but I am aprox 70% through my mod I'm developing :)

That actually sounds quite good to my ears, I think I'll look for one for cheap on ebay :) What amp did you use, it sounds similar to my Fender.. Cheers and once again sorry for kinda misdirecting your thread :P

No worries! It is going through my Marshall DSL 401 combo which I love even though it has its haters :P

I'll let you in on a little secret..I got mine for £31 including shipping brand new from ebenex music on ebay. They use the best offer thing on e-bay and I offered £27+£4 postage is an absolute steal!

Orville. I read that the MXR Wylde OD is based on the SD-1. Is that right? Do you have any idea about its specs. My mate has basically given me his and although I did not like it at first (a yammy with buckers) it works well with my strat.

That is true, I don't think Zakk uses his sig overdrive much just his Japan SD-1 I think it is. Take a quick snap at the circuit board with a camera and I'll have a look see what it has :)
