New Pickups

Hello mates!

I recently bought an Epiphone Les Paul Custom and found the stock pickups to be muddy running through my VOX Valvetronix amp. I stumbled across the BKP site and by the sound clips, they sound pretty awesome. I'm just having trouble decided what to slap on my LP.

I'm looking for a classic/hard rock type pickup. I was thinking about buying a calibrated set of Black Dogs, Mules, Crawlers, or Rebel Yells. Something that's versatile but nails the Jimmy Page tone. What would you guys recommend??

I think the Black Dogs are made to get Page's tone.

Would you guys who have the Black Dog set say they are pretty versatile? What about their cleans? I'm itching to get my hands on some BKPs!

That combo won't nail the JP tone.

If I respond with the trollishness I'm feeling, I'll get in trouble.

Glad you made your decision! I hope you get all you want from those pups. If not, we'll see you real soon!

Black Dogs are like all BK's, they clean up beautifully.  It is like the volume control suddenly started to work!  If you think of some of Jimmy page's cleaner tones, like Since I've Been Loving You or What Is and What Should Never Be, then you can get that type of tone (almost single coil sounding).

I love the sound of them, I have them in an old LP, and they just nail the Zep sound.
So many pickups, so little time

here ya go, sorry bout the slightly overdriven part, because of the way i record, it does that as it enters the recording program, but they sound really sweet live, and this is through a cr@ppy amp....
