Why are amps like Bogners and such actually so expensive here? They're just the simple Marshall circuit with a few switchable extra gain stages, one or two component tweaks and a few changes to the EQ circuit
The Shiva isn't too bad if it's what you're after, at least in USD. Of course, they hold used value a little bit better than Marshalls and are less common as well (so you can't get them used cheap) but if you look at new prices....
Marshall 1959SLP PCB - $2100.
Marshall 1959SLP Handwired - $3000.
Bogner Shiva - $2200.
Bogner Uberschall - $2800.
ENGL Powerball - $1800.
Roccaforte Custom 80 - $2200.
Roccaforte High Gain 100 - $2500.
Other Bogners - $4000+ (I wouldn't even look at these!).
Of course Marshalls are both cheaper and more common there. Even old handwired Marshalls are cheaper here.... it's not that Bogners are so expensive there, it's that Marshalls are so cheap there.
If you aren't too much of a prude to rule out buying anything used however (oh no, god forbids buying used gear), old Marshalls heads can still be bought from as low as $800usd in perfect working order and not too beat up if you wait, and $1500usd quite commonly... that's a no-brainer.
