Is it effect or just studio trick?
« on: September 07, 2006, 02:04:54 PM »
In the ending part of Opeth - Demon Of The Fall there is this mellow riff but it sound like that right after the first guitar plays the riff, the other guitar plays the same riff right after it...
hard to explain, just listen to the song

so is it somekind of effect or just some trick they've done in the studio
cuz there's still 1 guitar playing the rythm in the background

I've only heard a bootleg version of the song live so I couldn't tell from it if the same effect was there

it sounds very cool so I thought if I could do the same
any help?

Do you mean the claean arpeggio section before the final post-grunge powerchord bit, or do you mean the outro?
I can only make out 2 guitars in either, the first time with chorus and delay, and the second time with phase and delay.
BTW, that was COMPLETE shite    Find a better band to like  :P
Still, the only studio recording I could find on Youtube was over a funny martial arts anime, so it was bearable

I've not heard a live recording of it, but when I've seen them live it sounded like Mikael plays the melody with quite a long delay time to give it the "echo"

On the studio version, it's a lot more than two guitars :)  The melody is just played by two guitars (one following the other) & the riff by several

I have the studio version, are you talking about the acoustic guitars or that harmonised part before it?

I've got one black belt, and this quite snazzy green one from Next, where you can turn the buckle upside down and use the colour on the other side of the belt. It's great.
