Author Topic: from the 12th fret up (Read 2030 times)

AGAIN, i've been messing around with my tone. I'm trying to get the higher notes (12th fret up) to have just as much 'oomph' behind them as note played the octave below.

I've tried adding gain, but that makes it too damn fuzzy. Is there a trick you guys have that solves this type of problem? maybe a heavier string gauge?

The problem is on my 7 string with an EMG707.

I don't seem to have this problem with my PRS.

Less gain, a louder amp and more (lower) mids will give you oomph up there.

any louder than 100 watts and i think it might blow my head off

It'll be ok!

Hey I know a flat that might be up for renting and i still have the key if you want to crank it up there. (neighbours from hell pay back idea!!) :twisted: Hmmm... might get a bit messy!

I've read that this is the reason why the original Jems have a scalloped section on the upper frets.
