So I got my new Pups today......

I wanted to wire them up, but when I desoldered them (last week) I didn't bother to draw a wiring diagram (BIG MISTAKE) because I figured I could find one online.

Well........no diagram and me feeling really dumb :oops:

What I need is a diagram for a HB/SC, 1 push pull pot, the push pull acts as a pup selector the pot as a volume knob.

F.Y.I its a LTD George Lynch model if that helps

Hopefully you only desoldered the pickups, not everything?

If so, you just need to connect the red on HB & white of the SC to the selector, then the black/bare on the HB & black on the SC to a ground point.  Presumably you're not coil-splitting the HB so you can leave the green & white taped together.

Any chance of a pic of the control cavity?

:lol: by the time I had a go at this in paintbrish, TO found a decent diagram - should've checked before I started.

Anyway, here's what I did, it's pretty much the same as TO's (I think)....

Yup thats exactly what I did, you guys really know your stuff!

I have a long way to go yet, but I'm trying!




I seem to be having problems reattaching the Floyd, everytime I add tension, the springs fly out, literally! So now it's sitting there in my basement waiting for some assistance. I dunno if what I need to do.

Hope someone see's this.....

Do they pop out of the bottom of the block?

When I installed the Wilkinson in my Warmoth strats, I made a carboard wedge & taped it behind/under the trem (on top of the body) to hold the trem in position against the studs.

Then I hooked the eye of each spring over the trem claw, pulled the other end to the trem block & pushed in the hook as far as it will go

The wedge stopped the trem pulling back & giving the springs an angle to work loose, it also protected the top of the body from scratches.

If you can't get a good enough grip on the springs to pull them far enough out to get to the trem block, loosen the trem claw a few turns - you can always tighten it again later.

Then with the trem wedged in place, I attached the strings & gradually tuned them to pitch/adjusted the trem claw until the trem was in the position I wanted & could safely remove the wedge.

If you use a narrow flat bladed screwdriver through the ring end of the spring, you can put it over the claw.  This lets you keep the bridge end pushed in as you do it.

If you thought that not drawing a diagram was embarassing wait until you hear this....

The floyd on my guitar was shooting springs across the room. Not just popping them out but actually attempting to send the springs into orbit. so after bout 5 hours of trying to solve it I noticed that the spring angle looked off.

To make a long story short, I reinstalled the trem block backwards. Apparently the slots are angled, and if you put them in backwards your guitar will attempt to kill you, or at least poke an eye out.

So now that she is all strung up I think I need a neck shim. So i'm about to do that.

P.S. thanks for all the help you guys offer, this really is one of the best forums on the web  :D
