I'm thinking about getting an overdrive pedal - the ibanez ts-9 with mods -  for my amp... the thing is, isn't the TS9 tube screamer for REAL tube amps? I have a VOX AD30VT and a little worried it will be a waste of money using this pedal...

curious if anyone has this pedal...any other good pedals good for a SS/tubish combo amp?

Hey hey, I used a Catalinbread boost pedal for a Line 6. When I bought it, I wasn't sure at all if it would work on a none tube amp but it did. It fattened up the gain nicely.

Boss SD1 will do the same thing, largely.
The large print giveth, and the small print taketh away...

The TS9 is good but worth checking the HBE Power Screamer
Kind of like thge modded TS9 and then some
I had one on my stand at the LGS - great fun!

^ i actually preferred the big d to the power screamer, for some reason- for a little boost, I liked the HBE uno mos more than the power screamer, and it's cheaper too... but a lot less versatile.

:drink:

EDIT: oh, if you do decide to go for the power screamer, get the one with the "fat boost" mod. :D

I personnaly would go for a Digitech Bad Monkey, preferably one of the early US made models. Those are cheap and use the same chip that's inside a real TS9 (4558 something I think). And the best: It got bass AND treble pot, better than the original for a fraction of the price.
The new asian made version is not as good but definitly a good TS9 replacement.
