Slayer were using EMGs from the Reign In Blood era onwards so for those tones I'd suggest the Miracle Man.

For older Slayer (Hell Awaits) I'd go with something comparable with a Super Distortion - maybe the Rebel Yell or Holy Diver (????)

Nope you're wrong.

Show no Mercy era = Bill Lawrence

Hell Awaits = Bill Lawrence or Dimarzio Super Distortion

Reign in Blood = Dimarzio Super Distortion

South of heaven = Probably a Dimarzio Super Distortion

Season in the Abyss = Dimarzio Megadrive

Divine Intervention to Present = EMG's

are you talking about what they used in the studio or live? - I saw them on both the South Of Heaven & Seasons In The Abyss tours and also have video footage those tours - EMGs all the way.

on the old Hell Awaits footage you can see them using what looks like cream DiMarzio Super Distortions (doubt they where PAFs, heh)

HAHAA. Here you go. War Ensemble video. Look at the very beginning at Kerry's neck pickup. Pole pieces, not EMG's!

yep, Kerry King is using passives in that guitar on that clip but you can clearly see Jeff Hanneman using EMGs in that Jackson during the first solo.

let's not hijack the thread eh - all I'm saing is that for early Slayer a Super Distortion type pickup will get you in the ballpark and for South Of Heaven onwards EMGs would nail that vibe better.
