if you have a strat get it. I am not going to explain why, other than up to 26db flat eq gain is lovely (no overdrive), best pedal I have ever bought, my list of nearly rans - TS-9, proco rat and a mxr wylde od (all second hand).  I I am currently using it with a chandler tube driver and my sound is getting there.

you can be all the snob you like, I like it and that is all that matters :). I can't please everyone, but my US Strat with an extra boost into my little Laney makes me very happy. What more could I ask for, other than getting rid of the 60 cycle hum.

Juat one thing I would point out, I was a Les Paul/anything with a humbucker fan. But my girlfriend bought me the Strat as a gift. It's worth say £700 new. If I had had the money in my hand I would not have chose it. However, by fate I got it and now I am glad. My playing has improved massively. I am utilising an instrument, rolling the volume on and off a lot more, adjusting the tone all the time, and adjusting my picking. I saw a bloke on the TV the other day, a South African guy playing a great tune using a broom handle and an old castrol tin. He was playing tunes that had lasted over a hundred year just by simple folk playing and he had more talent in his little finger than I could ever have. I reckon he would not know the meaning of the word snob if he got his hands on my strat.

there's so many pedals out there!!! I had never heard of that one. oh well, no doubt I'll end up with that one one day, just another to add to my collection. Is there a form of pedal addiction?

My pedal addiction lasted until about 5 minutes after I went onstage for my first gig - I was so focussed on the "tap dance" that I played like utter cr*p :lol:

These days I own 3 pedals (well, 4 of you count the spare Bad Horsie in my cupboard) & even that feels like too much :)

Everyone who's building mosfet boosters is using the same circuit that a guy called Jack Orman developed out of a 'suggested useage' manual.  There are tweaks here and there but they're all 99% the same - some even have two boosters in the same box (dos-mos) :roll:

 :lol: I know what you mean. I was recording a track for a friend and just stepping on one pedal for the bridge kept screwing me up.  :roll:  It was sad.  Of course that won't stop me from buying the rest of the pedals on my list.

Strats are the best to learn/practice on.

However, may I recommend a Keeley Java Boost instead (www.robertkeeley.com).  Massive upgrade, at least if you use tube...

I used to be strictly Les Pauls (or at least the same woods) with super loud pickups myself... but I find even a superstrat with somewhat quieter, less compressed pickups (like a Nailbomb vs a MM... sorry haven't gone to single coils) will have the same effect.

I see people all the time who practice and play only on some loud overcompressed pickups like EMGs but when they pickup a guitar with some good pups in it, they can't play for shite without the overcompression to cover their ass.
