i for one am not arguing about them "doing it" or however you want to call it, i'm arguing the gimmick of theirs.. overusing a whammy and making them sound like they are doing that stuff with their ability to control the instrument. i wont go into their guitar sound cos that's a farce in itself.
if you check youtube for that friedman and rolly vs dragonsuck video, you'll see that they are just about slightly over an average guitarists skill, but are hiding that behind MASSIVE ammounts of compression, distortion and a whammy being used 50 times in a solo.
their music is catchy, but so is all power metal that is out there and there are ridiculous numbers of bands that are better musicians and have better music, that dragonforce, but dont have an annoying gimmick to propell them forward.
everybody can do that.. but most chose not to make a complete ass of themselves when it comes to actualy walk the walk.
what humours me, is when the same people that praise dragonforse, slam malmsteen for doing what he does. yet they dont realise malmsteen has more skill and tallent in his ass hair than them.
if you think they have "untouchable" skill, you shouldnt be calling yourself a guitarist, lock yourself in a room for a year and practice your ass off and you'll be better than both of em combined.
believe me, it's a LOT more fun, if you know what you're doing and have a certain ammount of control over the instrument, than just noodling away in the key of Eminor, which is basicaly what they're doing all the time.
