I've been listening to Monster Magnet-The Last Patrol, which we were talking about a couple of weeks ago.

Anyway, pretty good album.  It does seem to hark back to the sound of their first couple of records, but a bit more focused.  not quite as many psyche out noise bits :)

I got that as well.  Sounded good, not as retro/trippy/psychedelic as I'd feared from the advance hype.  Only played it once though, I should give it another go.

I've been listening to Witchcraft quite a lot recently.  They've changed musical style quite a bit but it's all good.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I just got all three of Gama Bomb's albums.  Thought it was time i did, since they're from just up the road and a friend of mine stars in their new video :)  "old school" 80's thrash, done very well indeed.  An excellent band that I'm quite annoyed i haven't paid attention to before now

Thanks to a feature in Vintage Guitar magazine I've been introduced to Volto! who mix rock/jazz/prog/fusion into a thing. The drummer's from Tool and the guitar player's two favourite guitar players are Billy F Gibbons and Alan Holdsworth. Nuff said.

I haven't heard any rock music for a week as I've been away for Christmas.

Back home again, I played that A7X Hail to the King album again last night.  It's not a grower!  Some of the tracks are good but the second half is really, really boring and samey.  I think it's one of those CDs where it might be best to play the tracks in random order to add an element of surprise (I find the last Black Sabbath album is like that too).

My last CD purchase of 2013 (probably) will be Red Fang - Whales and Leeches.

Still listening to Protest The Hero -  Volition loads, its hardly left my car cd player since I got it. Just absolutely awesome. Mist is my track of 2013 and I've decided I need to learn to play it all, got the intro down finally! Drumhead Trial is also a favourite song, anything with the lyrics "standing before the heavens screaming, bring on the storm, bring on the rain, bring on the jesters and bring on the pain" can't disappoint! :P

What are your guys albums of the year? I would say Earth Rocker but Volition just pipped it to the post I think. Fuzz' self titled is awesome as well.
