having listened to Mastodon and Danzig most of the week, today i'm rediscovering the Beatles. got Rubber Soul on at the minute. Good stuff! :)

Queen - The Game (1980)

In some ways the last good album they made - or before my attention turned away from them and onto other bands
Before that I was such a die-hard fan

I liked the works and that tour was amazing (they were very loud and very heavy - think Brian got to chose the songs) - saw them 3 nights on the trot at Wembley and was in the video for I want to break free

But I yearned for the old stuff - the first 6 albums.
Hot Space was too "black" and funk influenced & Kind of magic was a bit too poppy for me.
Had lost interest by Miracle and Inuendo

i can't really speak on the band, as this is the only album i own/have heard - but this one is INCREDIBLE. i love the atmosphere - and how pure evil it sounds with the church singing in the background, the creepy synths and organs, and his voice really does it for me, although i can see how you would not get along with it. I just love that he sounds more demon than human. Really good range too - deep dark doom, to screeching high tortured agony.

I'm listening to some early AC/DC - the Australian versions of High Voltage and TNT.

I really like the first few albums - they hadn't quite developed their signature sound and style, so there are some different types of songs you wouldn't expect from AC/DC.
