Led Zeppelin - Mothership

OK, it's a completely unnecessary purchase, but I liked the packaging.

Still, it's refreshing to hear the tracks in a different context (although they're in chronological order).  The emphasis seems to be on the harder-rocking stuff, mostly, so it's all killer, no filler.

Hard to say, I'm only listening on my PC through headphones, but (like most remasters) its louder for a start - and there seems to be more clarity and, dare I say, presence.

I'm no audiophile, and I haven't got the patience to sit comparing the different CDs, but as soon as I put this on I thought wow, that sounds really clear, open and "big".

Everything remastered by Page sounds shitee, because he is deaf as a post now and has no high frequency hearing whatsoever. Also, he gets yes-man George Marino (who is not a good mastering engineer to begin with) to turn the knobs for him, and you end up with a product that's fit to cut glass when they're done with it.

Stick with the original Atlantic CDs if you can still find em, as they are copied straight from the master tapes with nothing done to em. They arguably sound better than the original LPs, but that's another discussion.

:D I`m afraid so. There`s not a descent tune anywhere on the album, with the exception of United Alliance. Lots of very heavy De tuned riffing but nothing to show for it. The singer is reduced to screaming or grunting through thee entire album. The guitar solo`s are unremembered cr@p the production is very wishy washy, The drummer is totally unispiring when you consider how good he was on the last album this is a real disappointment. They used to be a black/death metal band & this harks back to that type of playing. lots of staccato riffing very fast but no real chord structure as such so there's nothing you`ll walk away singing. After 4 numbers i was yawning & getting very bored with it. Take my advice download this album & listen to it first before buying.

That album was very controversial amongst jazzers as well as DiMeola disciples when it was released.
