"Play It To Death" - the new Witchfynde album. If anyone is keen, I could do a review.

Furthermore, I have a massive hangover - just wanted to share that with everyone.

ok philly ;)

10 pounds at the last witchfynde gig (£5.49 for download version). Cover art is slightly naff (in a good way!), as every Witchfynde release it is it seems (sort of high camp black metal style). nice colour booklet though with the lyrics and some photos.

on to the tracks, theres 10 of them, two of which are covers:

'Play It To Death' - pure NWOBHM of high quality, I love the main riff, its very them. proper guitar tone.
'Holy Ground' - another classy NWOBHM track which they're playing live.
'Elements' - not keen, sounds a bit like 'Death and Progress' period Diamond Head, listenable though
'Sticks And Stones' - good track, but doesn't quite float my boat, again very 'Death and Progress' Diamond Head style
'The Darkest Places' - the most meh track on the release
'Lifes a Killer' - decent, surely though Montalo has better riffs up his velvet jacketed sleeves
'Three Wise Monkeys' - yeah! like this one alot, pure NWOBHM again
'Shame The Devil' - cover version
'Love Like Sin' - dark sort of power ballad, good stuff
'Paint It Black' - cover version of the famous Stones track. its quite experimental, i'm not sure they pull it off. i'm sure many will love what they did to it... i'm gradually warming to it.

Overall, its all listenable stuff, nothing terrible. I would say three really outstanding tracks... Release is worth the money, I love the band and am happy to support them with this
