"Back in the Village" (worst Bruce vocal ever, IMO)
You think?  I've never worked out what the lyrics were about, but it's one of my very favourite 'Maiden songs
"Rime of the Ancient Mariner", one of the most boring of 'Arry's extra-long epics.
Now that's something we CAN agree on :) although I love the guitar solo section (the bit after the spoken verse over quiet bass).  IMO "To Tame a Land" from Piece of mind, "Alexander the Great" from Somewhere in time & even the title track to Seventh Son are better epics...

EDIT to fix embarrassing typo... :)

I like the guitar parts, but it's one of those archetypal "galloping" Maiden songs - even though it is (was) their trademark sound, I've always preferred the more melodic stuff.

But mostly it's the vocal melody, especially on the chorus - it makes my ears bleed, I really hate it.  :x

As for the epics, some of them tend to sound as if Steve was so fascinated by the subject matter that he wrote lots and lots and lots of words, then Bruce really struggles to cram them all into the melody so the words sort of stumble over each other (a bit like some Manic Street Preachers songs, where there's all that arty-farty philosophical stuff - again, too many words to fit the melody!).  It sounds really awkward - and that certainly applies to "... Mariner", and "Alexander", I think.  I prefer the more recent mini-epics, where there's more music and less words, like "Paschendale" and "Blood Brothers" (I do like the big instrumental section of "... Mariner").

The last time I did acid I went insane - Jeffery Lewis.

And Astrocreep 2000 - White Zombie earlier.  A classic that I haven't listened to for far too long.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

Would I like White Zombie? I almost picked up a copy earlier of one of their albums. Saw loads of good CD's!

Hard to say, it's difficult to compare them with anything else!  I only really know the major-label albums, La Sexorcisto: Devil Music, Vol. 1 and Astro Creep: 2000.  Before that they apparently had a much more underground, experimental sound in the Sonic Youth vein (that's from Wikipedia, so don't blame me if it's wrong!).

Anyway, the albums I know have big, catchy, somewhat repetitive grooves (it's almost like dance music played by a metal band, in a way).  There aren't many guitar solos but there are lots of crunchy metal riffs and little audio snippets from old horror movies and trashy B movies (which I love, so they made me like the band too).  Rob's voice is quite growly but not in a death metal kind of way, you can make out what he's singing.

I never bought any of Rob Zombie's solo stuff, but I do like the films he's directed - even the Halloween remake!
