The Moldy Peaches.......again...... and load, cause I'm working form home and I still haven't got any neighbours - YAY.  Quality lyrics like "You scrintched up your face and did a little dance, pushed a little turd out of the bottom of your pants, I don't see what anyone can see in anyone else"  Classic
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

I go through Zappa stages, nut I'm generally relegated to the car to listen to it.  The wife can only take so much.... same goes for Tom Waits.

I have the same Zappa/Waits issues. I thought I made a break through with playing my lady 'Tom Trauberts Blues'. She seemed to soften in her opinion to all things Waits. I then played her 'Misery is the river of the world' and she changed her mind back again pretty quickly. I didn't even try playing Zappa after that.
I think I hate being indecisive.

Never got into Waits to be honest, but on the Zappa front I've always thought Apostrophe (’), Over-Nite Sensation and Them or Us are pretty accessible.  Some of his other albums only get played once every 10 years...
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Oddly enough I've just come into a Best Of Zappa CD and a Waits CD.  I'm liking the Zappa stuff, but I think that it could be a bit tiresome.  It's odd, because I got Steve Vais Flexible years (decades...) ago, and of course I can hear all the Zappa-esq bit now.

Waits I'm not sure about.  Probably an aquired taste, I guess...
BKPs Past and Present - Nailbombs, Mules, Blackguard Flat 50's, VHII's & Trilogy Suite with Neck & Bridge Baseplates!

Have you got "Alice"? My wife loves that one. Mind you, she already had early Tom Waits albums when I met her - those don't grab me so much though.

Indeed I do have Alice. Bought it on the day of release with Blood Money.

I did the same... but again, not literally

Right at the moment I'm concentrating on Howlin' Wolf - got a compilation the other day.

I already knew about all the "Chester Burnett & Willie Dixon getting ripped off by certain young white boys in the 60s/70s" stuff, and I know a lot of the songs, but what I hadn't realised was where certain styles of singing and arrangement might have come from... Tom Waits being a case in point.

See if you can get her into Howlin' Wolf first :D
