Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash - Argus: Through The Looking Glass
A complete re-recording of WA's classic Argus album. They haven't tried to re-interpret anything, it's virtually note-for-note, like one of those Top of the Pops compilation albums they used to release in the '70s that were actually all cover versions (to save paying the original artists, I think). So, you end up with something that sounds like the original but has none of the spark - and whenever someone plays something slightly different, it feels like a mistake. All very pointless really.
Next week I should be getting the new live-in-the-studio album from Andy Powell's Wishbone Ash - which also includes a complete performance of Argus :roll: . I suspect it'll be rather better.
