Derek & the Dominos - Live at Fillmore East

Haven't listened to this for years - always found it a bit boring, and it still is, they drag the songs out a bit too much (was probably great if you were there...)

But what a band!! Never noticed before, I was always too busy listening to this Derek bloke wailing over them... But wow, even I could have sounded good in front of this little combo

Recently I've been listening to trance!!! Shoot me quick!
Please dont, I am an open minded student who has to do a trance cover of Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush.

Some trance is really good and epic, but I just bought a Dave Pearce compilation and i've never felt so bored!

Plus some of the covers i've found are quite cool. Within Temptations "running up that hill" is about as EPIC i think music can get!!

Any one looking foward to Samael's new album?

Also two bands that have had me on edge for a long time are
The Kovenant and Anathema....when are they gonna get their asses in gear!

i love trance!  :D
anathema are currently without a contract, from what i know... do the kovenant still exist?

We'll wikipedia says they are gonna release there new album at the end of 09. But ive seen no official up date for ages.

I dont think Anathema need a contract/label. unless they're really strapped for cash.

Its not quite trance but i just bought Anjunadeep01 and its amazing. My no1 CD at the mo.

been listening to The Answer: Everyday Demons over the weekend.  it's not bad, good vocals (though i have to say that, my aunt knows him!) and some blazing solos! not keen on the rhythm guitar sound though, it kinda disappears in the mix.  great drum sound.

hmm, one way to damn an album with faint praise, "yeah, great drum sound"  ;)
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!

Yeah, that's how I felt about their first album... it makes all the right noises (not the drum sound specifically! ) but nothing really stuck in my head.  :|

Anyway, listening to:

Rush - Snakes & Arrows Live *
The Company Band - Sign here, here and here.

( * Edit:  Crikey, Rush are on really rockin' form on this album!  The guitars, bass and drums sound huge, and Geddy seems totally comfortable doing the higher-pitched vocals on the older songs.  How many other bands are there who just keep getting better and better after 35+ years?! :o )
