The Steel Panther album just arrived :D Sounds a bit more 'produced' than the Metal Skool versions of a couple of songs.
Well priced at £8.99 at HMV too, well worth the sh!ts and gigs

Saw them live last night in London
Was possibly the best gig I've ever seen

That's high praise indeed!  :o :D
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Full opinion would be good, I wanna know the feeling without the festival atmostphere!

Was Satchel playing through a pair of Marshalls again?

Indeed - they were that good
It was the perfect mix of comedy and truly awesome good time hard rock
The onstage banter was as important as the songs in some ways
I laughed more than I have ever done at a stand up comedy gig (and I love good stand up comedy)
And it was an hour and a half of fist in the air good rocking fun

They played pretty much all of their new album Feel the Steel and encored with Motley's Kickstart My heart and also with Van Halen's Panama.

I was already a fan of the band in their previous incarnation as Atomic Punks and they do Van Halen better than Van Halen.....and Motley would kill to sound as good

Yes Satchel (Russ Parish) played through a pair of Marshall JCM2000 heads and had a great sound
He also did an amazing solo spot, where he ended up playing drums and guitar together

The "airhead" bass player got a "hair solo" and spent much of the gig preening in front of a mirror, like he does in the Death to all but Metal video

There is some youtube footage up already.

It was such good fun!

THE chickenfoot album is ok
Lyrics lack a bit - typical with Hagar some might say
The Steel Panther album is so laden with melodic hooks , both guitar and vocal - you'll find yourself humming it

You can end up playing spot the original tune , as some of the songs have lifted generously from classic hair metal songs

There is a lot of Bon Jovi, Poison, Warrant, Whitesnake, Motley Crue etc etc in there
But you'll be humming a tune or 3 with lyrics that you wouldn't chose to sing in front of your granny

i got the steel panther album a couple of days ago and gave it a spin.  lord that's obscene!! some of it's pretty funny, and it's definately getting a play at a party!  i think i'd get sick of it pretty soon though.  does do a great job of sending up 80's hair metal though, the bio's in the sleeve notes are great!

how about a tour with Steel Panther and Dream Evil? :)

oh, and Manowar  PDT_008

from what i remember, their first album got rave reviews and associations with being the new saviours of rock and i'll admit that it was very good.

I heard a couple of tracks off of the 2nd album and was not a fan, keytars and leotards aplenty.

Justin Hawkins was on stage with Steel Panther on Tuesday for 2 songs - they did a Darkness cover as well

I just heard that the Darkness are reforming

Thing is that Ralph Saenz/Michael Starr has a much better voice than Justin

Check out some of the cover versions they do - the Motley Crue ones would make Vince Neil blush

Depeche Mode - live in milan...

i'm much more used to small/medium venues, and seeing it at the the stadium was kinda shocking, because i was at not less than 150 m far from the stage! it took a sniper rifle to follow the action, but i doubt that policemen would have allowed me to get in with one...

anyway DM were simply AWESOME.
and 70000 folks singing, weaving hands and clapping ALL THE TIME are quite a view.
Mule, MQ, Stockholm, CS, RY, MM, PK, ANB, CNB, AWP, CWP, PiG90...

too many? ;)
