Hated their MTV grab attempt. I do love the tour from this album, however (World Wide Live)

:o  I don't think Love at First Sting was the MTV grab attempt, it's a great album! "Bad Boys Running Wild", "Rock You Like a Hurricane", "Coming Home", "Big City Nights", "Still Loving You", those are brilliant songs!

I'd say the decline started with Savage Amusement, which (IMO) was a conscious attempt to be more radio-friendly in order to continue the success of LAFS.  It was still pretty good, but after that they stopped working with Dieter Dierks, started bringing in the occasional outside writer... they lost their way a bit, and it lasted a long time.  I still love 'em though.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

Sadly, to many of my age group at least, the scorpions will be remembered for Wind of Change.

Another RIP for JT!

I'm listening to 65 Days of Static - The Destruction of Small Ideas

Really liking the instrumental stuff at the minute, get sick of singers skwawking over stuff haha. This is quite good, its like instrumental rock mixed with electronic stuff.

I just keep coming back to Devin Townsend's new album, Ki.  I love this album.

When it first popped through the door I wasn't really sure (cr@ppy CD player in the kitchen accompanied by noisy kids is not a good listening environment), but since then I've played it a lot and it's really grown on me to the point that it's probably getting up there with my favourite albums of the last few years. It's very mellow and angsty, and quite different from his previous stuff, but this is a man baring his soul to the world and is incredibly beautiful and moving. There's some wonderfully tasteful guitar going on too; stuff you'd normally expect someone like Gilmour to do. Plus he somehow manages to make clean guitars sound heavy at times.

Here's a few YouTube links containing some stuff from Ki (cr@p audio quality as always with YouTube unfortunately):

Can't wait for the next album. If it's even half as good as Ki we're got a real treat in store.

I'm sitting here listening to the song Terminal right now, headphones on and cranked; raising a glass to the memory of JT.  :(

Saxon - The eagle has landed

Another album I had on vinyl since about 1985 but only just got round to buying on CD.  Just realising how much I've missed not being able to listen to this - one of the greatest live heavy metal albums ever?
