I find that album really mood dependent.  If I'm not in the right head-space for that album I can find it very twee.  If I am in the right place it's amazing.  Beautifully recorded too: sounds great through decent hi-fi.

I've bought most of the recent Japanese paper sleeve SHM-CD reissue series of the first 12 studio albums (I still need to get Hemispheres and Permanent Waves in this format).
I love paper sleeve editions because of the vinyl nostalgia, plus I've noticed the mastering on these (which is from '97 so I guess it's the same as the remasters series) seems slightly quieter i.e. more dynamic than some other versions I've heard.

Jim Hall - Live
This is a great guitar album, a great jazz album, and above all an amazing jazz guitar album.
Jim's tone is stunning and his playing is sublime.
Highly recommended for anyone who likes jazz or wants to get into jazz guitar.

Caravan - In The Land Of Grey And Pink
Possibly my favourite Canterbury scene band (definitely my girlfriend's favourite) and this is a fine album showing their mix of eclectic pop and folk/prog.

IMO it has lost the essence of the Everytime We Touch album. Simple melody and then pump it out. More pop than her Eurotrance kind of style.

au contraire _tom_ : its extremely formulaic well researched high octane electronic dance music. its well worth a listen to any aspiring songwriter.

That's interesting.  I find the paper sleeve editions a bit annoying, they're a reminder of how cr@p CD packaging is compared with vinyl LPs! 

I still have all the early Rush stuff on vinyl anyway, not that I have anything to play them on (but then again, nobody in "real life" listens to Rush...  :wink:  :P )

i quite like it to be honest with you, but it IS different.. having said that there are some traditional cascada style tunes on there

You're quite right, typical CD packaging is usually quite poor but with the paper sleeve I can imagine the beauty of the original LP sleeve/innersleeve/insert (although I know it's not a substitute for the original)

Plus these CDs have a much warmer sound than I've heard before, even when ripped to MP3s
