It's the body shape, headstock and control layout I hate more than anything!

haha I suppose not :P So long as I get on with the neck and those I try aren't body heavy (though I guess that can be fixed with moving the top strap button or weights in control cavity), an ebony SG Standard it shall be :)

i've got an SG61 and with cold sweats it sounds awesome (maybe one of my best sounding guitars), but there's something "wrong" with the neck... don't get me wrong, i love its 60 profile (much better than the chunky 50 profiles you get on standards), and the upper fret accessibility is obscenely comfortable, but it's definitely neck heavy, and i need to remember that i'm playing it because my hands "think" instictively to be completely elsewhere on the fretboard... headstock seems to be much farther away than on my les paul, for example!

I'm a little worried by how thick the 50s profile is. My Pearl has quite a thick neck, but twinfan said it's quite thin by Gibson standards.. yet my friends LP Studio apparently has a 50s neck (thats what the gibson website says about the new'uns anyway) and that feels about the same as the Pearl. Fits perfectly in the hand (that's what she said :P)!

Know what you mean about the headstock seeming really far away, it does take a bit of getting used to. I think its to do with the body starting around 20 rather than about 16. And that the normal strap button is on the back of the neck which puts the guitar "more left" if that makes sense?

anyway, to get back in topic, just listened (or tried to) to Khanate - capture/release and subsequently Sunn O)) - black one.

i read some review. i usually get suspicious when i read "destructurate" in a music review but i was curious... and i expected something extremely dark and yet sophisticate.

i got just random chords, some noise, some scattered drums, and the singer screaming some line in a childish and feeble black metal like voice (absolutely nothing against the vocal style, he just does it wrong).

what Abruptum did (better, even if i never liked them) 15 years ago.

is it what "drone metal" is all about? sorry if there's some fan here, but i instantly erased the files from my hard disk. and sweared while doing it.

yes, it makes sense! i love my SG, but it's always strange to play it for the first 30 minutes!

New fear factory. Dont worry I pre-ordered it as well.

Some AWESOME tracks. Some rubbish ones. On the whole still the best since obsolete, and at its best, much much better.

Has anyone else got Bob Dylan's "Christmas in the heart"?

I don't like everything Bob Dylan does, and I usually find "christmas" music in general a bit of a chore (there's some absolute classics, but the entire genre leaves me a bit bemused)... but I've developed a bit of a soft spot for this album.

My missus ordered it a couple of months back when it came out. I understand her reasoning was "Andrew likes Bob Dylan, so do I, I like Christmas songs..." When it arrived, I wouldn't let her play it on anything other than headphones until December started.

I have to admit though, I've actually been putting it on "for her" when I fancy listening to it!
