If I said "weird keyboard player who looks like Hitler" then you'd know exactly which band I liked in the late 1970s

I would.  No need to click that link.  :)

I bet you did though. Just to see Ron.

I did.

He was (probably still is) a remarkable character.

The only other person I can think of with a similar (but completely different) stage presence is Wilko Johnson.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

I'd love to get those two onstage together. And maybe Keith Moon on drums.

Started listening to Clutch again, currently on Blast Tyrant. Liking this a lot more now, before I could only really get into Promoter and Profits Of Doom, but I like most of the album now :)

There's nothing like a bit of dubstep to get you up in the mornings.

got the Metallica/Lou Reed Lulu cd yesterday.  i've listened to the first disc.  hmmm.  on the second pass it sounds better, maybe because i'm adjusting to it.  if you come to it thinking it'll be a Metallica record with a different singer, you'll be disappointed.  in fact, if you think there'll be a singer you might be disappointed! :)  mr Reed largely doesn't bother with tiresome things like being in time or tune with the music.  it's definately interesting, and some parts have jumped out at me, but will certainly require some listening to get my head around.

in interviews, the band have said there were times when they were jamming, trying out ideas, and next thing Reed would say, "that's it, that's a take".  that does come across, a lot of the time the band do sound like they're just jamming on a riff or rhythm to see where it goes.  and poor ol' Kirk barely gets a look in :)
cry HAVOC!! and let slip the pigs of war!!!

I'd vaguely heard about that, but didn't realise it was actually out - I don't read music magazines any more, apart from guitar ones, so I'm hopelessly out of date.

Don't suppose I'll ever get round to it.  I've still only played Death Magnetic once since I bought it....  :|

Death Magnetic sucked really bad. I can't believe I wasted money on that.

Well, I've just watched the Lou Reed/Metallica thing on Jools Holland. What a total load of horse sh!t. I've rarely heard anything as shockingly bad as that. I really don't understand how Jools Holland got himself through it and even gave a little praise to it. If it were my show I'd have pulled the mains out and blamed it on a power-cut.
I think I hate being indecisive.

It never fails to amaze me how people keep giving Metallica credit, no matter what rubbish they release.
I mean, you can argue the two Load albums, but once they did St Anger everyone should have known they were taking the p!$$, no?

The black album is the newest one that I own. That probably says it all really.

Threat signal self titled. Pretty good, some of the best metal in recent years

The Lulu thing was/is a $%&#ing musical abortion.

For me that would be Ride The Lightning... That's the only one, actually.
