I'm wondering too, I have Last Patrol on pre-order.  I'd have to put Monster Magnet right up among my top 3 or 4 bands, love them!

Loving it. Definitely a Dopes era kinda vibe to it.

Oooh, promising!  That's the era I liked the bad best, I gradually lost interest in the later albums and didn't buy the last couple.

I read an interview/quote from Wyndorf where he said (IIRC) they were going back to a 60s/70s garage/psychedelic vibe on Last Patrol.  Which made me think it could be good, or it could sound forced and bogus.

It's not as heavy as Dopes. But it doesn't sound recent IYSWIM... Suck it and see. I like it, but then I like God Says No also...

God Says No was the first one I got, and i loved it.  then i got some of the others and at first didn't like the rawer, fuzzier spaced out stuff.  But of course that's what i ended up loving! :)  I still think God Says No is a great album though

Looking back, I've got all the early stuff (except maybe the first EP, thought I had it but I can't find it), God Says No was the last one I got!  So I'm four albums behind.

My decline in interest seems to have coincided with the arrival of Phil Caivano on guitar, so I always blame him even though it may not be his fault at all.

I really liked Mastermind and the other two (Monolithic Baby and 4-Way Diablo) were pretty good. I don't think they've actually done one that I don't like... IMO this one is the same sort of level as MB and 4WD.

They're all good.  I've always found Monster Magnet's albums to be growers, I've never instantly liked any of them!  Monolithic Baby is a particular favourite, as is Powertrip.  I'm hoping my copy will be waiting for me this evening :)

Coney Hatch - Four

This was totally unexpected, their first album for 28 years!  And it's pretty damn good.  I always liked their songwriting, and I'm surprised Steve Shelski never got any attention as a lead guitar player, I think he's excellent.

Had a good metal / metalcore run for a few days. Somethings I had running where:
All that remains - The fall of ideals
Trivium - Ember to Inferno
Killswitch Engage - Alive or just breathing

All still lovely stuff.

After that I had a weird emotinal break and went to see a dance piece which had one of my favorite albums of all time as the soundtrack.
Jónsi - Go
Incredible ride.

Now I am currently going for something to inspire me with my midterm writing, especially for my creative writing course.
Saul Williams - Vulcanic Sunlight
Compared to his previous work more accesible, more minimalistic, but still hard hitting. Such a great artist and poet.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
