Firstly I finally got around to listening to the newest Heaven Shall Burn album. Wanted to do that for quite a while and since I got tickets for them on the 8th (no talking and moving on the 9th) I finally did it. First impression is cool, still the best of german metalcore. They got a unique flavour and I enjoy some ideas they did. Lyrics cool as always (not the generic metalcore stuff) touching upong political and leftist themes, plus self reliance. Great that they finally cleared up the production after the last two albumbs were plagued by utterly horrible mastering. Think I really like this one. Probably wonīt beat Iconoclast, Death to our prayers or Antigone but hey, canīt judge right now. So:
Heaven Shall Burn - Veto
After that, nice fall weather here these days (either freezing windy rain or warm autumn sun) so I went for a round celtic rock.
Runrig - Day of Days
Itīs their 30th anniversary concert and very cool. The crowd singing on Hearts of olden Glory is amazing. Plus I got some ideas for celtic style scales and phrasings I hope to somehow learn and incorporate. Also lovely volume swells and a great guitar sound all in all I feel.
