There's not much difference really, but on the whole I'd say I preferred #2.  Which is odd, because I usually can't stand scratch plates.

Not too fond of the fret markers though...

1st one for me.... it's a metal guitar....  it's a weapon that you are showing in the picture, imo its simplicity and rawness of the shape will be much appreciated when there are less plastic on the body... besides scratch plate for RR is very ugly  :evil:  <-like this

I like the black SP.  kinda gives it an edge of sophistication.

+1.... but the border lines can look aweful if not done exactly the way I like it and viewed at the proper angle too, so it's close.

I think that #1 gets much more love than #2

being honest... I don't use the tone pots, only the volume. and some people even say that a guitar sounds better without tone pots, they say that they suck tone.

First one because there is no scratch plate, though a tone control would be useful.

i'd go for #1 cuz it looks kewler and i like the idea of less processing between pups and amp.
