My Warmoth guitar is finally finished. I had so many crazy problems with it that I just about gave up, but a friend from another guitar forum helped me out big time and now it's done.

Specs:

Body: Mahogany, sprayed with nitrocellulose lacquer.
Neck: Mahogany with an ebony fretboard. CBS-sized headtsock. The back is oiled and the headstock face is sprayed with urethane. Graphite nut.
Pickups: Bare Knuckle Pickups Warpig in the bridge; [Another Brand] P-90 in the neck.
Tuners: Planet Waves locking tuners, the ones that automatically snip the strings when you tighten them.
Electronics: Switchcraft 3-way, stacked concentric tone-volume pot, Vitamin Q paper in oil tone capacitor, vintage cloth wire.
Bridge: Schaller, adjustable for different pickup spacing.

What made you go for that style bridge may i ask? and also, what's wrong with a BKP90? :P

Yep, that's a photo I took of the actual guitar.

There's prolly nothing at all wrong with a BKP-90, but I didn't have one and I did have one of these kicking around. It's a scatterwound, vintage-spec P-90 and sounds good--why replace it? :P

I've always like single coils in the neck position and humbuckers in the bridge, that's why I chose this particular combination. I really like it and I don't miss having a middle pickup at all.

Oh, and I went for this style bridge because it doesn't require the neck to be tilted back like a typical SG has. I like the feel of Strat necks and I'm not used to Gibson-style guitars much.

I have it strung with 11s at the moment, though I'll try 10s on it soon. 11s put a lot of strain on the neck and I have have it tuned a semi-tone flat right now.

now thats a nice finish. But why the strat Headstock? Kinda looks outa place to me. But othere than that \mm/

It looks like a Fender on a Gibson... come on now this is 2006 not 1966 ;)

interesting! why is it that then if im not being too annoying lol... cause i love my p-90.... but i really want to have a humbucker in a guitar somewhere! so your combo idea sounds really interesting...

I like a neck single as well. They just sound better for everything other than smooth sustained solos 8)

Dive? Not sure what you mean. If you mean action, then it's actually really good. The neck is almost perfectly set up.

I did spray it myself at first, but I had a bunch of things go wrong. Not so much from the spraying--I'm good at spraying--but weird things like it got dropped and so forth. Some of it definitely was inexperience, but a lot seemed like bad luck. I started to think it was cursed after it got ruined so close to being finished as many times as it did. I finally gave up on it and a friend did the body. He did a fantastic job, too.

Nah, you're not annoying. Why do I like this combo? Hmm. I've never actually had a guitar with it before, so it was a bit of an experiment, but I like how it turned out. After buying guitar after guitar, I've discovered that I really prefer humbuckers in the bridge for that extra kick they give. I just like the sound! It's nothing more complex than that. :lol:

As for the neck single coil, well, the answers the same. I find single coils more mellow than humbuckers in the neck position. Maybe mellow isn't the right word, but there's something about how they sound that just does it for me. Sorry I'm not being clearer. It's just a taste thing and I'm too tired to get into more technical details.
