I am not a big Youtube user. So apologies to all those who are in the know about youtube. If you're like me and know little and care less about it it's worth pointing out that there's masses of stuff on there for guitarists to savour. Example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_jwCETqFRM
Eric Johnson playing Cliffs of Dover live in Texas. Surprisingly from what I can see EJ uses the strat bridge pup throughout, when one of the guitar mags transcribed the song not long back they worked on the basis that EJ used his 335. Whilst it may have been recorded that way the almost polar opposite guitar does the job live wonderfully well. Maybe the "more treble" live idea works.
There's also a great Allan Holdsworth gig on youtube at:

:D That was simply stunning in places & messy in others ! [EJ ]
What a Tone that man gets even live 8)
I loved the way he was playing those little pentatonic arpegios like they were nothing Up & down the fret board without a care in the world.
:D 8)

Can you believe Google bought You Tube for 1.65 Billion US (a tad less than a billion pounds for you in the UK) I guess it is as popular as all that.

I love EJ but, Holdsworth...
His solos literally leave me gasping for air because I've been holding my breath the whole time. He's truly amazing. Check out The Things You See on his All Night Wrong album!!!

I was in a music shop in Boston (lincs) the other day and got AH's "reaching for the uncomon chord" - new, never touched, it must have been sat there for 20 years...not sure if I should attempt anything though

Jut read the sections on beer and gear, leave the music alone as it's scary
I've got the Just For The Curious book/CD but I think AH isn't very happy with it himself, it explains his theory quite well but again can be hard to digest.
