Epi LP Custom
« on: June 20, 2005, 12:14:44 AM »
Hey... I recently bought an Epi Lp Custom in black, and was wanting to replace the stock pickups. I play a lot of punk/metal guitar, with tones like Thrice and Avenged Sevenfold coming to mind, but I also like the crunchier At The Drive-In style tones, and clean delayed tones.

I was originally thinking of a Nailbomb in the neck, as I've heard the cleans are pretty nice too, and a Warpig in the bridge for heavy low end. Would this be suitable, or would the pickups clash tones/ be too different from one another? Any advice here would be awesome, thanks.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
My  gut reaction is the Warpig is going to be too saturated in the gain dept for punk-thrash fine  but punk needs that extra edge IMHO.So I think the Nailbomb would be a better bridge choice in this situation as it can handle both with ease.
For a neck pickup, the Nailbomb neck is the obvious choice as it's powerful but has a great edge to it too. Buying a calibrated pair also makes good finacial sense too as a pair is cheaper than buying two different single humbuckers.
