Wondering about the Warpig
« on: June 22, 2005, 03:51:40 AM »
Man!

The clips of the Warpig are crazy!

I have a Marshall AVT 50, and a USA Washburn CTS with Seymours (Custom Custom in the bridge and a 59 in the neck).  Would the Warpig sound a lot different with this amp?  Would anyone recommend an amp upgrade before pickup upgrade?

I enjoy the CC but the 59 is boomy and I want something more METAL than vintage, and cleans up decently.  Just searching for new tone I guess.

Thanks

Sean

Welcome to the forum! Not too many colonialists on this site! :D
Getting a new amp should definitely be on your 'to-do' list, but new pickups will definitely breathe new life into your tone!!

IMHO, the CC and C5 are some of the worst pickups I have ever encountered, sorry.

ANY Bare Knuckle pickup will surpass any Duncan; I know this for a fact. I have several guitars, and at one time all of them had Duncans, DiMarzios or Joe Bardens in 'em. I'm now converting them all to Bare Knuckle-equipped guitars!!

As for the Warpig specifically, I can't answer for that pickup, as I don't own one, nor have I ever heard one in person. Plenty of people on this forum do have one, tho, and I'm sure they will chime in. :)

Ah thanks for the input!  The CC has worked for me well, but I have played few guitars.  I would like to try some BK's but I'm hesitate to shell out $350-400 for a calib set, but so tempted!  Hopefully I'll get some extra money soon.

Thanks

Sean

I'm glad you like the clips. :D

The Marshall AVT's are great amps (for a hybrid). I used to have a VS100. Great distortion channel. On your amp it would sound even more saturated and I think you'll have to roll off a bit of bass. If I'm not mistaken, your amp has a deep switch on it. I don't think you'll be needing that anymore with a Warpig.

No deep switch on the 50.  The 100 and 150 have got all the buttons.  My bass is already low.  Around  10 oclock.  Its just a bass heavy amp.

If you sell off your SDs to defray some of the cost, I would have zero guilt telling you not to worry about  the BKs ... they are the best!!
