I have to say, that Gibbo hot rod '58 looks awesome.

but where did they get the idea to burn the chrome covers?

no no no, it must have been Gibson who came up with the idea as theyre an american company and own the rights to everything that ever has or ever will exist.

After all it wasn't Swan that invented the lightbulb, the British that invented the computer, and don't forget it was the US who cracked the Enigma cypher too.

They are probably preparing the legal case as we speak.

Please, please, please, as a Proud American I must say I am a little taken aback by some of the hostility shown here towards the US of A...I mean sure our commander in cheif may be somewhat removed from forign policy, aside from saying they (the bad forigners)may be hiding WoMD, he really thinks he and his right wing agenda know whats best for the world.   but to pick on poor defensless Gibson for BK's uht uht "Their" burnt 58 PU, common. It's just a simmilarity. I mean they dont sound alike now do they?    :P

Yea.

If you look at the burned chrome cover of BKPs and the gibson covers to me they look different...

Does it to anyone else?

Yeah I thought the gibson ones on the pic on that link looked a bit cr@p compared to the BK ones I've seen pics of.

I just hope that George dosn't attack the WOMAD Festival next year thinking it's a trade show for WoMD

Nope I'm bitching about the US the patent system that allows companys to claim patents on things which other people have incented. Prior art apparently dosn't count.

Oh yeah and the blatent rewriting of history.

Personlally I find Americans to be niave but nice people, who (on the whole) are a little out of their comfort zone when outside of the US.

However I do dislike certain US companys or particular administrations.

Not a pop at the vast majority of US citizens

Aren't most people out of their comfort zone when outside their country? - I certainly am when I get passed the fortress walls of the M25 and leave London for the 1950s time warp that is the rest of England.

I wonder if Gibson will patent the burnt chrome thing in the US - i'm surprised Larry DiMarzio hasn't already done it  :D

Hah I contend that it's the area withing the M25 is within the time warm

London is the only place I where even the feckin newsagents closes on Sunday afternoons, as If I'm going to be looking for a Sunday paper in the morning ? Also the place also STILL grinds to a halt on a bank holiday ;)

I'm either equally comfortable (or is that uncomfortable) no matter where I go unless it's a somewhere where there is all out insanity

Heh, interesting discussion about us Vs them even if it boils to inside/outside the M25. The thing is that I've just built a double neck Les Paul. The twelve string side has BKPs the six string side has Gibson Burstbuckers: There is absolutely no comparison between the sound of each neck. The twelve (BK) sounds positively orchestral whilst the Gibbo side is nice but that's it; nice.

I don't think Gibson et al are ever going to be a threat to the wonderful hand made UK products we all love and enjoy.
