Varies between manufacturer, but most seem to recommend leaving to warm up for 1-3mins before switching from standby->on.  Personally, I leave my Mesa for at least 3 mins.

Also, NEVER use a valve amp without a speaker cab plugged in (e.g. just running line out into a desk/recorder etc) - you bugger the output transformer.

Hope you enjoy your new toy - now get off the forum & go make some noise! :)

Personal preference - depends on what sound you're after.

In other words, Hi

Lo input is best for guitars with humbuckers. Hi output is best for single coils.

Otherwise things sound too mushy.

Hi is just more sensative and easier to over drive
Lo is less gain and thus requires more push to send it into OD.

I've never used the Lo input in an amp ever.. :P

Oh shite, that looks $%&#ing awesome!

So what kinda sounds are you getting from this beast?! Enough gain for power metal?

BTW - how wide is your cab? I've got a feeling my heads gonna hang off the sides of the cab a bit :(

It's a $%&#ing MONSTER!!

It has tones of gain!!! I love it :D:D:D

As for the cab on the Marshall website it just says it can fit a Marshall head on it. I gotta eat now, but if you search for the dimensions in google you will probs find them because i think i did before but i can't remember them.

ok what about versatility joe my boy...

?

does it seem one-trick pony-ish at all?

or can you take down the gain a LITTLE (not crunch/slightly overdriven or anything) and get an all around hard-rock  tone instead of thrashy metal style?

It can do anything, i have had a wide range of tones whilst i have been experimenting today, the only fault i have with it is that i wont be able to go from clean to monster gain, but that serves me right for buying a one channel amp really haha.

Anyone who's used Laneys.. how does the standby switching work?

On my Fender theres power and standby, I switch the power to on and leave the standby on standby for a bit, then switch the standby switch to on when I'm ready to play..
