OK folks, its amp changing time

Yeah, its come round again.

Currently I'm using an engl screamer combo and a JJ'd TSL602.

The screamer is a little too open and not thick or dark voiced enough (I dont like a very dark voicing, but darker would be nice) and the marshal doesnt have enough low end kick or clarity in the high end.

The two together is amazing, but not practical. I cant rely on that.

So I want a 2x12 to begin with [EDIT: 2x12 CAB to run the screamer thrugh, just to be clear]. I'm open to recommendations there: please suggest closed back 2x12s! Especially to go with the screamer (the overall winner of the two, rather easily).

Then, if that doesnt sort it (and with my EQ I have a sneaky feeling it will do the trick) its amp hunting time.

I would like to know as many dealerships as possible for:

Engl: I know:
Billy bowmans, c--kermouth (where I got mine)
Sounds Great, manchester
Academy of sound (now sound control): was in manchester: are there any more?

Diezel: Blackmanchine guitars

Framus: ?

Bogner: ?

Genz Benz: ?

Any you think I missed and where to find them would be much appreciated.

What about the new Marshalls?

If you go try Bogner, do try the Shiva, and not just the Ueberschall or the XTC, the Shiva is kinda hot rodded Marshall with an awesome clean channel that loves pedals. Actually with this amp and a few pedals  you're sorted for a very long time, if you like mids. If scooped is your thing, try the Ueber...

http://www.sutherlandtrading.com/genzbenz.asp

needless to say, the link to the UK dealers doesn't work. It used to, before they "improved" the website. And they had said site down for about 4 months "improving" it. EDIT: woot, found a link that worked! http://www.sutherlandtrading.com/genzbenz_dealers.asp

I would seriously consider the genz benz g-flex 2x12 cab as well- I haven't tried it, but it's meant to be a seriously full-sounding 2x12.

if that doesn't do it, the el diablo combo is nice- but you need to tweak it quite a bit or it can be quite dark sounding- it's a bit like a mesa in that respect- if you aren't careful, you can dial in a cr@p tone, but you can also dial in a good one too, if you're patient.

The oxford guitar gallery had some diezel last time I was there (the vh4 to be precise), but I don't think it's a dealer- other than that, check out the diezel website for a link to the UK distributor...

matamp make custom cabs with your own choice of speaker- i guess that's worth a look too.

I've tried a Diezel at Blackmachine - it's basically his bedroom, don't expect a showroom.  He's a top guy though a builds awesome guitars that - worth the trip just for his guitars.

Guitar Guitar in Newcastle are stocking Bogner amps and have an Uberschall in stock - I think you will LOVE that amp!!!

Lastly, it's worth your while to try out some Randall solid state gear - you may be pleasantly surprised (EQ in the loop is required to tune in your tone).

Blackmachine is not where Diezel is any longer (certainly not in a bedroom anyway).

The New Randall's have EQ's in the head itself (V2 etc.).

are you sure some guy didn't just try to pick you up in a bar, and when you said you played guitar, used having a diezel as an excuse to get you up there?

and that sucks about newcastle. I was there about a year and a half ago, there wasn't even a guitar guitar there then. :(

yeah, cornfords are nice- I don't know if they're metal enough, though (though I admit I haven't tried that exact model, maybe it's more metal).

I guess a brunetti xl-revo is worth a look too, mark, if you can find somewhere to try them. I tried one recently, it was pretty nice.
