Nailbomb or Warpigs or Miracle Man!?!?!
« on: October 29, 2006, 10:51:07 PM »
I am a complete noob when it comes to pickups, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Ok, I plan on getting a Custom Carvin DC727C, and the stock pickups are well, horrid, and I was just wondering which pickups would benefit me the most? I play a Peavey 6505+ Head through a Marshall 1960A Cab, and I play metalcore, death metal, and getting into some shred. I want a pickup with a massive amount of output, but with the ability to clean up perfectly. I have been recommended by my friend to get a set of calibrated Warpigs, and I was just wondering how this would suit me.

The warpigs also have the ability to be split if I'm not mistaken, correct?

Thanks, in advance, for your help.

Bridge: Ceramic warpig.

As you say you're a pickup n00b, I'll take you at your word and explain:

Warpig: very powerfull. A5 magnet = quite tight bass, organic, smooth round highs.

Ceramic magnet = same kinda tone but surgically tight bass, smoother mids, sharp, cutting highs.

Neck: if youre getting into shred I'd say cold sweat.

I just got a guitar with this combo and it does the crushing metal/ripping shred thing perfectly.

Yes, you cap split all BK HBs, unless you order them as 2 conductor.

There are three pickups that come to mind.

First, the warpig which MDV mentioned.  However, I'd go with an Alnico 5 magnet if you want it to clean up.

The other option I can see maybe working for you is the Nailbomb.  It's not as high output as the Warpig, but will clean up nicer.  I've heard some pretty great clean clips done on a Nailbomb...

I think a Warpig is what you're probably after, just depends how much you want it to clean up.  And I am not sure about this, I just emailed Tim but haven't heard back yet, but the Warpig may split into fully wound single coils, which would be cool.... anyone know?
Real men turn their volume to 11!

Rebel Yells + Les Paul = the Ultimate Rock Pickup.

Miracle Man, it does nicer cleans than everyone lets on..

totally bone crushing sound and i think it's the best highout put pickup by BKP imo.

Considering it a 5150 they are also possiblities.

Hell, with that much gain in the amp you could use a painkiller or cold sweat too!

Thats 5 possibilites.

And I still say ceramic warpig. It has good cleans  :P
