Yes mate Kiko Loureiro and Mattias Eklundh. Andy Timmons used to use them as well.

You can get it in a Combo, but Laney no longer makes them. They were called the VC50. It was a 2 x 12 combo that had the preamp and power amp stages of the VH100R. You can find them pretty cheap, much cheaper than the head.

they used to make a combo version of the vh100r, the vc50 (and I guess the vc100 that was already posted is the 100 watt version). it's been discontinued, though- second hand is the only way to get one (unless they reintroduce it).

Well, I'm at the hard rock/melodic metal end of the scale and I do so love my Ashdown. I've just successfully worked out how to get a Hendrix sound out of the dirty channel (I could already do it on the clean channel, which is part of the beauty of it) and pissed off my wife by slamming out a very loud and slightly off time Purple Haze
 It's A) inexpensive
B) has GREAT cleans
C) is massively versatile. Although it was largely touted as a Nu Metal amp (which it does do WONDERFULLY) It pretty much covers all the bases. The fully independant channel controls allow infinite tweaking. By adjusting the EQ and gain on the clean channel you can get almost acoustic clean, springy clean, lightly spanked fender and pushed marshall. Indeed, with the gain all the way up and the bass rolled down a little it sounds quite like the new Marshall "Vintage Modern" amps. The fully tweakable dirty channel also allows pretty much anything you could imagine. I've just done a good Hendrix, you get a pretty convincing Zep, a good 80s type tone, a fantastic Slash tone, GREAT thrash tones and of course a spectacularly good modern scooped sound. The virtually infinite bass also makes it great for Grunge type sludgy riffing (Them Bones by AIC sounds awesome through it).
HOWEVER mine is one of the original UK made ones, and I haven't tried the Chines built ones, but you could probably get a good deal on one second hand (even better).

Quote from: Dakine
went to local music store today and they had HBE pedals. They said found another distributor.
Had a Screamer (though bought mine from em at 1/2 the price?!?!) a UFO and another I cannot find on HBE site, agggh.

Also, gawd knows how they get this stuff, a used (looking like bloody new) Bad Cat Hot Cat head  8)  and a Koch Powertone II 1/2 stack

Nick, idea!   You could road test the Powertone II half stack with one of your nasty guitars plugged in. I'll tow in some traffic wardens, wild west style from the back of a lorry!    If they still have any meat on them and there's signs of life we can strap their heads (assuming it's still got a body attached to it) to the cab and like old Brian Cant used to say, 'Play Away'!

Yes that's Cant for you young whipper snappers and we've all heard the jokes!

I hate traffic wardens. I think a moments inatention when one is crossing the road is in order.
