After meeting tim at the Birmingham NEC (and playing his guitar fitted with MMs) my next purchase will be a miracle man humbucker for my squier tele.

It's so frustrating though, i could buy a single bridge pickup this month. But it'd be without the cover, and the aged nickel cover just looks so damn cool i have to have it.

Or i could put that money away til next month, and buy a sexy as hell humbucker on december the 1st.

Or i could wait til after christmas and buy a matched set.

Will the difference in volume between a MM and the stock squier humbucker in the neck position be great enough to make it worth waiting til i can afford the matched set?

Also, how does the output level of a MM compare to an EMG 81?

Patience, grasshopper :)

IMO you should wait until you can get what you really want rather than compromise for the sake of having something quickly.  New year isn't all that far away.

No idea what the stock Squier pups are like, but I imagine there'd be a fair difference in output & a HUGE difference in TONE - that's not always a bad thing, it depends on how you use your neck pickup (how much & what for).  If it was me, I'd wait.  YMMV etc...
BKPs: HD, MM, NB, PK, CS, Ab (b&n); Am (b only); VHII, Tril (n only); IT, Slow, Sult (m&n)

Yep because your end up getting a cheaper worst alternative and play around for a while and then want BKs again and have to save more money and end up spending more than you intended to start with  :)

Patience is the key

Putting a Miracle man into a squier tele is like pouring perfume on a pig

Think about the guitar before the pickups as bare knuckle ain't exactley cheap.

Patience!

But still, we all think they're great, or we wouldnt be here, so theres some logic to trying one out, seeing if you like it, then get the rest or not. There (deep breath now) are other pickups. I think BK are the best, but you gotta respect horses for courses.

The output, entirely subjectively, is about 70 or 80% of an 81. Really quite different tone, though.

Yes, i did say squier. Yes, it is a good one. My logic is, if i bought a new guitar now, i wouldn't be able to russle up the money to get one that's a step up from this guitar. (Squier make horrible shite and midrange guitars).

So i'm thinking upgrade the guts, wait til next year get a decent guitar but maybe with not so decent pickups etc and then switch.

I fight squier's corner a lot.
