Bareknuckle vs Seymour Duncan/EMG

Hey there,

Im new to this forum but was just wondering if any of you could help me.

I already have a nailbomb in the bridge of my gibson sg and i love it but now im after something abit fatter and heavier with abit more chug.

I have a seymour duncan invader pickup which i love how fat it sounds in the bridge but it seems to seriously lack in highs and sounds quite harsh clean.

I quite like the sound of EMG 81's but want something with abit more tone and 'life' and cant really be bothered with active pickups.

I use a framus dragon head and this pickup will mainly be used for quite high gain metal but still would like some of that organic tone my nailbomb has and definition when playing big distorted chords with no mud. It would also be nice for it to clean up nicely too. :)

At the moment i cant decide between the warpig alnico or the warpig ceramic for the bridge.

I was just wondering if any of you could tell me what the main differences between the two were and how they compare to a Seymour Duncan invader and EMG 81, and why someone would choose an active EMG 81 over something like a warpig?

Thanks x

WITH FULL DISTORTION

I am not really a metal fan, but for a bit more chug I think I and probably many other guys would either recommend the Ceramic Warpig or Miracle Man  :wink:

But wait for the real metal fans, which are probably the majority on this forum, to post their suggestions and you will get some good qualified answers  :wink:

if your after downtuned metal the Warpig is the way to go, if you want a nice organic responsive agressive tone that really screams the Nailbomb is the choice.

if you want that totally stop on a dime responce of a great ceramic pickup with lots of agression the Miracle Man will do it..

this is how i'd think of it..

Warpig = Hatebreed
Nailbomb = Sikth
Miracle Man = Extreme Porno Graffiti..

or atleast they're the tones they create in my head.

Ceramic warpig.

It has a voice of its own, but to compare it to your pickups it will have as much bass as the invader, but as tight as tht 81, and as much clarity as the 81, but not as much highs/high mids.

Both pigs are less compressed than either the 81 or invader, so get ready for your sound alot BIGGER :twisted:

Well I certainly think that anything from BKP is far better than anything from SD, they are after all a big mass production company and haven't changed the mass produced way that they make pickups like the SSL since they started.
With EMG, you get the EMG sound, most people either love it or hate it.
Sound to melike you should contact Tim and tell him the sound you are looking for so he can advise you on a BKP.
