Hi,
I was just wondering, whether a set of Cold Sweats would suit? How do they sound and response? Anyone have dealed with such a solution? What do you think about it?

They would suit just fine....

They sound and respond at around 60%...

Such a solution has been dealed with by many...

Yeah, silly me. Heaven't been too precise lately :roll:
Well, I'm looking for some fine pick'ups that would be versatile, so that I could "chop off a head with 'em" and at the same time was able to switch smoothly into some clear jazzy sounds. It should sound quite modern 8) . So - summing it up: I need something that is working well with high gain amps, dosen't loose ony of its clarity and is great on clean.
I've read that Warpigs kick hard and do great on clean. I couldn't verify that, as I haven't found any satisfactory demos of it (all I found were some high gain and 7 string samples). The best sound I've found here was produced through the set of Nailbomb (bridge) and CS (neck). Unfortunately it was on a 7 string and I own a 6, so guess it won't never reach that fat sound... :roll:
I guess any set of BKPs "Contemproray" pups would be great (maybe except the Holydiver

), but I was just wondering, how does a Cold Sweat work.

erm... why not the holydiver????

cold sweats have a ceramic magnet in the bridge, so won't do amazingly well with the cleans... try looking at the Rebel Yells or the Nailbomb/CS combo, RY's have the same neck as the CS, but with an A5 bridge, so you'd get better cleans out of it (and is suited well for hard rock), whereas the nailbomb bridge would be better for metal

Sorry mate, i have to disagree with the Cold sweat clean comment. The cleans are great. They are really natural and full, to these ears anyway.

Its a different tone i admit but still really good for a ceramic. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into giving them a good clean and distorted tone.

I have a very difficult time getting a clean tone out of my Cold Sweat. However, my amp also has a hard time, so who knows!

So what are they good for??? :?: I thought that the set of Naibomb and CS was composed in such manner to provide some good riffage from the Nailbomb and fine cleans from the CS pick'up...
As for the Holydiver, it is just too vintage. Seems like some hard rocking stuff and sound of the '80. I prefer some modern character.
It dosen't mean that I don't like vintage sound. I could go for some post-hendrix or Tommy Iommy sound (Abraxas+Warpig?), but I guess you can't have everything, do you? :roll:

Well, sort of - the CS neck is pretty good for neck leads as well. Bear in mind the CS neck is alnico V - only the bridge is Ceramic. Judging by my brief time playing the one in my Warmoth (it's at Feline being repaired at the moment) the CS neck has a sweet clean sound...

Well, haven't heard too much (one obituary-style clip and it rocked hard :twisted: ). I'm basing my opinion on the description of the humbucker.
The hook is, that I'm looking for a versatile pick'ups. I'd be glad if there wouldn't be a significant difference between the output of both pick'ups. Same goes for the clean/overdrive sound, so that I won't have craving to turn the volume knobs of the amp, while switching from the distorted sounds to the clean ones. "Well balanced" that's the right phrase :P

@Antag: I see You've got a wide variety of BKPs. Which one would You recommend then?
