Planetrock.com blatantly steal my idea - F**k!!!!
« on: November 16, 2006, 01:42:16 AM »
Well some of you know that I went for a job a while back Marketing for Planet Rock the DAB radio station.

I didn't get the post and I was gutted as I thought I brought a lot of cool ideas and commitment to the interview / planning presentation.

I really enjoyed presenting them and thought that there was a perfect fit between myself and the audience with my insights and technical skills.

I walked away feeling quite pleased with the process as I was treated well by the guys at the station and was simply sad that I wouldn't get a chance to really show my ideas in public.

Now it looks as if I shouldn't have been so worried!

They have nicked one of my proposals..

I can't believe this has happened and I have NO DOUBT that the idea was originally mine.

I know Limp Bizkit made guitarists improvise at recorded auditions after signing away rights to their compositions but this just stinks.

I wanted to bring my best to the interview and get the job... never would I want to think that the process was a fishing exercise.

All I can say is that I know that I am better than the guy they employed as there has been bugger all improvement on their site in about 5 months.

I am going to write a polite letter to their marketing director just to enquire about the health of the process and I may mention that they "seem" to have taken a few of my ideas to their hearts....

F**K!

:D Send `em a bill charging them for your time as a consultant. Then put a letter in with your bill stating that next time they want to  have a fishing session dressed up as a "Job Interview" Not to call you !!

 :D  8)

Oh yer & tell them in your letter that you hope they`ve got the 2nd stage ready otrherwise the bit that they nicked from you will fail. That should make `em wonder !!   :P
God I could do with a Gin & Tonic !

I've been up all night as my body clock is messed up and I'm still stunned that they did this.

It just so disappointing.

Why is it that events seem to always play up to the poorest interpretation? It's hard not to become totally cynical when things like this happen.

I just want a fair bloody crack at doing something without underhanded practices or office politics....

It's a bummer when this sort of thing happens Dave. I've had a few things like this happen to me over the years. It's human nature mate, just have a read of Bill Bryson's A Short History Of Nearly Everything. The amount of slags nicking other peoples ideas and pocketing the money for them is staggering!

Unfortunitely thats called management :(

Thats also why I'm working 400 miles from home and no longer head of a department. If you don't play their game you will be disposed off.

Oops cynacism alert

Dave,

1: if you had the broken leg at the time you may be able to use some anti discrimination lefislation, to hassle them (especially if their choice to fill the post is cr@p). I'm not sure about England / Wales, but in N Ireland you certainly could

2: You may be better off counting it as a lucky escape they sound like a pack of ,insert expletive here>
