I'd say Nintendo is the best bet. Although I will personally never buy another Nintendo product after being stuck with almost nothing but Mario games when I bought the N64 new.

My 6 year old has got a PS2, he gets on pretty well with it. Star wars lego seems to be his current favourite (and mine for that matter! ). He also uses my brothers x-box too with no major problems but the controller is a bit big for him to really get comfortable with.

He's currently asking for an x-box 360 for xmas tho, I'm trying to persuade him that he'd much prefer a rugby ball!

Thanks - I am leaning towards a PS2 on the basis that it appears to be easier to get an in-car adapter to power it - which will help on those long jouneys to the in-laws. The tips on the controller size were very useful - would not have occured to me.

Go into a store and look at the games available that should point you in the right direction.

We have been through the Xbox and PS2 consoles in out house and my son and I both perfer the xbox. Theres some great deals around for new (or almost new xboxes).

The game cube has some real fun games too, but it can sometimes be difficult to get anything for it :(

h yeah if you can be bothered the XBox is very easily modified to turn it into a media centre, play import DVDs, install games to the internal HD etc, without having to open the console

If you like playing against other humans then the XBox is also the best option.

Rob...
