changing pole piece screws
« on: November 16, 2006, 02:03:21 PM »
I was thinking of swapping the polepiece screws around in my pickups. changing ones of identical size, but with different colour.

Is there a problem with that? I was thinking it might upset the waxpotting.

And would this affect the tone significantly, for example if the screw material was slightly different?

Thanks

you wouldn't use the meat knife on crusty bread but, equally, the serrated knife and straight edge knife aren't going to go through raw meat as quickly

We use a very specific material in our screws which we have made specifically for us so swapping to anything else will alter the tone. You'll have trouble sourcing Fillister no. 5 x 40 screws as they're now only used in guitar pickups, UK fasteners won't have them.
