The Mockingbird has a Painkiller and the Ibanez RG has a set of Holy Divers. The flame top on the Ibanez isn't that bright up close, it's just the flash of the camera doing weird and wonderful things to it.

I knew there was a reason I liked the look of it :)

Just for interest's sake (& I apologise for the threadjack) how do you find the Painkiller compared to the HD?  In particular, do you think it has more/less/same output?

The Painkiller has way more mids and has more low end to it. Output wise i'd say the Painkiller has more. It's a very 'chug chug' pickup with that hint of 'british heavy metal' tone to it (think Judas Priest).

The Holy Diver is very much a shreddy pickup. It's the kind of pickup where it will show everything in your playing. Whilst messing around with settings on my Laney and the RG, i got very close to John Petrucci's tone on Images And Words.

Though i've heard guys on here with Dual Rectifiers making the Holy Diver sound 'brutal'.

One of them might be me (well, single rectifiers in my case) :)  Thanks for the comparison.

One thing I forgot to ask: are your Holy Divers the current AlnicoV 16.3k, or the old Ceramic 13.6k ones?

Oh - you've got the old spec ones - nice!!
i have a few of those left
Similar in some ways to the rebel Yell but with a ceramic magnet

I liked - especially for Rhthym work in a Les Paul (think Dio 1983)
