Have BK`s Spoilt Me ?
« on: December 03, 2006, 02:28:52 AM »
:D I played my JJ jewel last night at a gig. Its loaded with Gibson heritage P90`s. I found that the neck P/U was almost unplayable as it was just Mushy as hell.

Have i been spoilt with my BK`s or what. The bridge was more usable but didn`t have the cut of my BK`s.

If you want to no how good BK`s really are just play a 3 hour set with some other P/U make & you begin to realise how much of a difference scatterwinding really makes.

Now all i`ve got to do is get a set of BK P90`s !

God I could do with a Gin & Tonic !

haha I feel the same way when I plug in my strat. I put a SD in the bridge until I can afford a Bareknuckle for it. I just got new tuners and nut, got all excited to play then plugged it in and was so disappointed

I know what you mean. I don't even pick up any of my guitars now that don't have Bkp's. Everything else just pales into insignificance!

Now you know my problem, over 50 guitars and it costs a lot to keep getting BK's for them (good thing that not that all of them are electric!).

If you get a set of BK P-90's, ask about the P-91 as I love the tone of them in my PRS.

:D Hi Phil

Whats the difference between the P90 & the P91.

Hi Guys glad to see i`m not the only one who notices the difference. It was a nightmare gig. The crowd loved us but every time i wanted to use my neck P/U it had no definition to it. No one else noticed of course but i did. Oh & my playing partner turned round at one point & went "There not Bare Knuckles are they " Even with his cloth ears he noticed the difference !!

The magnets in the P-91 are Alnico 5, where the P-90 is Alnico 4.  The P-92 is a hotter wind with Alnico 5.

Cheers

Phil you are the man. I know you know the BK's as well as anyone.

If you are ready to tilt a pint again just say the word; the get together you had was topnotch, I finally put my SG together with the Mississippi Queen and Warpig, NICE!

Glad you got the guitar together.  I am just doing a couple myself.  One is for TO (Ben), and is a Roland equiped strat with a cold sweat pickup and flamed maple neck.  The other is a Dave Murray style strat, with 2 humbuckers (probably the Cold Sweat/Painkiller set as I have a PG set on order that might go into the Les Paul).

I will be away in England for the holidays, but drinks when I get back sounds great.
