BKP soapbar to dogear conversion.Possible??
« on: December 10, 2006, 12:43:00 PM »
I've got a BKP p90 I bought for a new guitar.
Its a soapbar, but I want to convert it to a dogear.

Is it as easy as just taking the soapbar cover off and putting a dogear cover on??

Talk to Tim or Steve, I'm sure that if you send 'em back in, they'll convert them for you.

I'm pretty sure you can just swap covers but I would check first as I think if you remove the cover of a humbucker it voids the warranty.

It is not that simple.  A dogear P-90 has a different base plate to the soapbar.  The dogear has tabs which the mounting screws go through.  In a soapbar the screws are through the pickup between the A&D and G&B strings.  In theory you could convert a soapbar to a dogear, but you would need to pack something under the pickup to hold it in place.
So many pickups, so little time

Thats basically what I was hoping, whack the dogear cover on and use a shim.Sorted,
