« on: December 15, 2006, 02:13:08 PM »
Hey im Hayden, first post.today i have orderd my dean 79 v,its a custom run in blueburst only about 100 made!! woo cant wait.heres a link if you want to see it http://www.edromanguitars.com/guitar/dean/models/b_burst.htm
note:i didnt oredr it from here,so are there any dean players in the house.

enough bout that.well i have heard of bareknuklepickups before in a few mags.they seem totally awesome, and there uk.woooo.im a bit of a pickup noob.i just really want to know how much difference pickups actually make for the tone of the guitar, mainly all the tone comes from your amp in my opinion.these pups seem very nice and they look very snazzy, most of the sound clips are pretty darn awesome to.so i wonder what pups to put in my new dean when in arrives?

thanks for reading this....Hayden

Well the thing i like about Bareknuckles is that they aren't super high output pickups like X2N's and Live Wires. They let the tone of the guitar, the strings, your picking and the pickup itselfs shine through. They don't need all that output to get super chuggy sounds or fluid lead sounds.

Plus Tim and the guys are all very helpful and a joy to talk to in person as they're always happy to talk gear, pickups and they're just nice people.

What styles do you play? what's your favourites tones? what are you looking for?

Also, those Deans look gorgeous! Pretty cheap too.

Welcome to the forum my good man ( or woman as the case may be).BKP's do open up a guitar and allow the natural aspects it it and your playing shine forth like a beacon....sorry, got a bit carried away. Those of us on the forum are like you, attracted by the great reviews and reputation and once we have bought one set we become passionate and want more because they are superb. I would say that you ought to play your guitar with the stock pickups and have a good listen to them before comtemplating changing-they may well be fine. There are a few Dean fans around these -parts so no doubt they will enjoin the debate and enjoy all matters Dean. That looks like a great looking guitar and a beautiful colour. If you giveb the guys some sort of indication of the sort of styles you play(as Steve has said).

thank you steve.i see your point of view.styles i play hmm well ne thing,i find its best to have a high range of styles.so you can incorporate them all,sue certain bits from one and use it in another.but i love blues/rock meatl just anything really.people like chuck berry love his tone, slash his tone is just instantly recogniseable.then you got people like dimebag darrel also great tone.i cant realy think atm sorry.

yeah i cant wai to get that dean.i have imported it,£400 with a hardshell case, thats not a bad deal as,the stadard 79 series cost in uk about 400 with out hardcase and its not the cutsom one, also doent have the inlays and triple binding.im a sucker for block inlays and multi binding

I was just trying to look at the specs on the Dean website, but the music they play on there was driving me mad (and the "Stop Music" button doesn't work).

Does it have a maple top under that lovely blueburst finish, and do you know what the stock pickups are?

Yeah, I did in the end  :D !  Also found that the music only plays in the main site window, not the pop-up product windows...

Anyway, still couldn't find the specs.  It's not the most informative of sites.  :?

hey,the reason why you couldnt find the specs of that lovely blueburst model is beacuse its a custom run.desighned by the DOA dean owners of america.theres about 50 or 100 made or so.but its bassed on the 79 series, just with the custom colour, mob inlays multi neck binding and so on.
