Bought myself an amp for Christmas :0)
« on: December 17, 2006, 11:55:58 PM »
Been on the look out for one for a while, and finally found one!  I've picked up a Laney Klipp 100w head   :D

I use the 60w version at the moment and fancied having a 100w for larger gigs and just "to have one".  The one I've bought has just been serviced, is in original spec and very good condition (just like my 60w).

Can't wait to get it, crank it, plug in my SG Junior and play Iron Man

My first amp, in the late 1970's, was a Laney Klipp.I used it as a bass amp and in conjunction with a 2 X 15 Selmer cab.Sounded wonderful.Stupidly, I was persuaded to sell and replace with a Peavey amp.

They're superb amps if you like the fuzzy edge to the distortion.  I can see why a bassist would love it.  The tone is quite similar to my GH50L but it just has more balls and depth.  Might have to move the GH50L on...

if you think the Klipp amps are cool, you should get one of the earlier Supergroup amps like Iommi used right through Sabbath and run a Rangemaster treble booster into the front end.

I believe Iommi used Klipps too, so it's no wonder they do Sabbath really well.  If I could record some clips I would  :(

The Supergroups go for more money than I'm willing to pay as they're close to Plexi spec and tone.  Klipps get overlooked which is great for me!

Supergroups generally go for between £250 and £450 depending on condition.  Anyway, what's the problem with being too obvious? - if the tone is good thats all that matters

Im wanting to get a ProTube / AOR 100 er whatever the cr@p they're called. Heard one on a Sleep video and fell in love w/ the tone. They go for pretty chep too which is nice. Laney makes some nice amps :].
